Wes Moore, officially known as Westley Watende Omari Moore, is the 63rd Governor of Maryland and the first Black governor in the state’s history. Born on October 15, 1978, in Takoma Park, Maryland, Wes Moore spent much of his childhood in New York. His early life was shaped by challenges, but also by the resilience and guidance of his family. Military and Professional Career.

Before entering politics, Moore served as a U.S. Army officer and saw combat duty in Afghanistan.
